Personal Bio
I am an accomplished technical program and product manager with 17 years of diverse experience across IT systems, software, and security. Starting my career in desktop and server support, I have advanced through roles in operations technology, global program delivery, Agile software development, and product management, most recently focusing on cybersecurity. I’m passionate about data analysis and visualization, which underpins my analytical approach to problem-solving and data-driven decision-making. My technical expertise covers a broad range of domains from server administration to networking, cloud architecture, and IT security. At present, I’m on a drive to expand my knowledge into quantum computing and information.
I’m a firm believer that training, mentoring, and effective communication are lifelong skills to be continually developed. I have presented at internal conferences, such as Machine Learning for Product Managers, and conducted technical briefings for external customers at Executive Briefing Centers. I have developed and delivered in-depth technical training programs to engineers worldwide. Notably, this year, I organized an international conference on technical program management best practices, attracting over 400 attendees.
Outside of Work
I enjoy activities that get me into the outdoors and challenge my assumptions about risk. I'm an avid rock climber and mountaineer, and a keen mountain runner. I enjoy official 'skyrunning' events and in 2022 completed my first ultra-marathon length race. In 2010 I attempted the first unsupported winter crossing of Iceland's interior by foot, but turned back after six days when a storm compromised our tent.
I joined the Territorial Army in 2006, and was promoted to Lance Corporal after coming top of the Non-Commissioned Officer cadre course. I joined Royal Marines Commando Young Officer (YO) training in 2009, but after one surgery and two attempts was unable to complete the arduous 15-month program. I also completed courses in Defence Instructional Techniques (DITs), endurance training, signals, and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) surveying and decontamination.
